City and Port

Located in a privileged position directly on the sea, Sanremo offers travellers a tourist experience that combines culture and historical architecture with the sea and summer entertainment.

The old port of Sanremo, so called to distinguish it from the ‘new’ port, Porto Sole, is undoubtedly one of the city’s major attractions, recounting its maritime history and long commercial tradition. Over the years, it has marked the city’s history and tourist development, giving it a unique and evocative atmosphere, ideal for evening or springtime strolls. The Old Port covers 82,500 square metres of water and can accommodate up to 465 boats of various sizes and around fifty fishing boats.

In addition to the port, there are many other attractions in the city that can be admired while strolling through the streets. Don’t miss Via Matteotti, where the Hotel Nazionale is located, known as La Vasca (The Tub) due to its dominance over the other streets in the city, where the most important fashion brands and numerous prestigious boutiques are located.

The event is usually held on the last Sunday in January, although in recent years it has been held in March by decision of the municipal council, thanks to the already mild and pleasant temperatures.

All the municipalities of the Riviera dei Fiori take part in the parade of flower-covered floats, and every year the technical and artistic jury awards a prize to the most innovative and significant float.
